It hurts, and still we hang on

Hugh said "Let go of the rosebush" to hundreds. Maybe thousands. He was right, every time.

I now smile and nod encouragingly every time I share his slogan with someone for the first time. I still grit my teeth and shake my head every time I remind myself, with benevolence aforethought, of its wisdom.

I have yet to hear his words come back to me. I want that to happen. It may happen by one degree of separation...perhaps a Day by Day club member who was there at the time. Or it may happen via some unknown measure of separation when I seen the t-shirt heading toward me on a stranger.

This slogan may well be his immortality. Please share it far and wide. If you will, share the name of your (latest!) rose and your story. As always, thank you for sharing your own experience, knowledge, and strength.
